New Horizons - Towards a Shared Vision for Mental Health [Posted: 24.07.2009 - 15:26 at 'VCS Matters'] This consultation, on a new vision for mental health and wellbeing, aims to help develop the promotion of mental health and wellbeing across the population, improve the quality and accessibility of services, andenable strategic health authorities (SHAs) to deliver their regional visions, in a way that reflects the changed nature of the NHS.

New Horizons will form a programme of action to advance the twin aims of: Real Help for Communities Hardship Fund [Posted: 24.07.2009 - 08:04 at 'VCS Matters'] The Hardship Fund is a £16.7 million grant programme. It will support third sector organisations in England who are delivering front-line services to the most vulnerable and disadvantaged people in society. Grants of between £50,000 and £250,000 are available to organisations with an annual income of at least £200,000 that are in financial hardship as a result of the recession, which is impacting on their ability to deliver services in the following areas:

Review of the CYPF Grant Programme [Posted: 24.07.2009 - 07:55 at 'VCS Matters'] The Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) are consulting on the Children, Young People and Families (CYPF) Grant Programme and would like your views and comments. The CYPF grant programme provides funding to third sector organisations for activities which support delivery of the Every Child Matters agenda and the Department's Children's Plan. This consultation seeks the views of the third sector and any other interested parties on the future approach and shape of the grant programme.

Regional Empowerment Programme commissioning opportunities [Posted: 23.07.2009 - 11:02 at 'VCS Matters'] On behalf of the Every Voice Counts Partnership, RAWM is commissioning work for the Regional Empowerment Programme. They are inviting tenders for the first round of commissions under the following themes: 1. Disability and Empowerment 2. BME and Empowerment 3. Young People and Empowerment 4. Charities 'failing to reach out to younger supporters' - Third Sector [Posted: 21.07.2009 - 10:48 at 'News'] Charities are missing out on donations and volunteering time from young people because they fail to communicate effectively with them, a study has suggested. A poll of 655 10 to 16-year-olds, carried out by the Charities Aid Foundation in May, found that 85 per cent of them thought that charities should work harder to engage them and that many more would like to help charities than had already done so.

Too much emphasis on exams alienates young people - CYPNow [Posted: 21.07.2009 - 08:45 at 'News'] The current education system places too much emphasis on exams, according to almost 80 per cent of young people, a report revealed today.

Third Sector Investment Programme for the Innovation, Excellence and Service Development Fund [Posted: 21.07.2009 - 08:37 at 'VCS Matters'] The Department of Health has announced that the Third Sector Investment programme for the Innovation, Excellence and Service Development Fund for 2010-11 is open for applications. The fund which is open to voluntary organisations providing a service similar to a service provided by the National Health Service or by local authority social services aims to support the work of third sector organisations with a clear focus on supporting and driving forward new ideas, excellence and developments in health and social services.
